Occupational Accident Care Carnival Debuts in Tainan
The highly anticipated Occupational Accident Care Carnival, specifically designed for workers affected by occupational injuries, made its lively debut today (7th) at The Spring in Tainan. This marks the first time that the Ministry of Labor and the Center for Occupational Accident Prevention and Rehabilitation (COAPRE) have brought the event to Tainan, with the aim of raising public awareness about workplace safety and disaster prevention, encouraging companies to establish safer work environments. The carnival featured a diverse lineup of over 30 food stalls and brought together central government agencies and private organizations dedicated to promoting occupational safety. Attendees who participated in the interactive workplace safety activities were rewarded with delicious treats, creating a welcoming atmosphere that attracted many families from the Tainan area.
The Occupational Accident Care and Prevention Carnival, first held last year to great acclaim, has been expanded this year by the COAPRE. Building on its success, the COAPRE has organized three sessions for 2024, with Tainan hosting the event for the first time, sharing love and support with the local community. The event's theme, "Preventing Occupational Accidents, Towards a Brighter Future," aims to uplift accident-affected workers and their families, encouraging them to move beyond their struggles and embrace a brighter tomorrow. The carnival also seeks to rebuild trust and confidence in society for families affected by workplace accidents while reinforcing the importance of valuing the lives and health of all workers.

In addition to the 30+ food stalls, the carnival featured over 20 immersive workplace safety simulations. Highlights included a claw machine that helped participants understand the risks associated with operating fixed cranes, a VR experience simulating the adrenaline rush of working at high altitudes, and hands-on demonstrations of the safety requirements for using full-body harnesses and 75-kilogram lateral force barriers. These engaging activities aimed to educate attendees about the critical importance of personal protective equipment in preventing high-altitude work accidents. Participants could exchange points earned from these safety experiences for food treats and enter raffle draws, creating an atmosphere filled with joy.
The carnival kicked off with an inspiring performance by the "Cerebral Palsy Dance Troupe" from the Tainan City Cerebral Palsy Association. This talented group of young individuals, passionate about singing, choreographed and performed their own song and dance routines. They pushed beyond their physical limitations to lead the crowd in singing and dancing, filling the event with energy and excitement, and setting a vibrant tone for the day's activities.
