2024 New KIM Key Indicators "Basic" Course

Musculoskeletal disorders are the primary cause of a reduction or loss of working capacity among workers, and they have a major impact on workers, businesses, the country, and society. Musculoskeletal disorders’ negative impacts on workers include reduced mobility, strength, quality of life, and living difficulties. For businesses, this leads to decreased productivity, compensation for workers’’ diseases and injuries, as well as increased medical benefits and insurance costs, often making business operations more challenging. As far as the country and society are concerned, this results in increased burdens on labor insurance and social welfare, taking up vast social and medical resources. Consequently, developed countries around the world are committed to preventing repetitive musculoskeletal disorders. In this regard, learning about ergonomics and its tools is essential for on-site occupational health and safety personnel to prevent repetitive musculoskeletal disorders.

The course assists students in gaining a basic understanding of ergonomic risk factors in the workplace, endowing them with the ability to carry out a preliminary evaluation of these risk factors and making improvements.
