KIM (Key Indicator Method) online checking system -new version

KIM (Key Indicator Method) is a set of assessment tools developed by the Bundesanstalt für Arbeitsschutz und Arbeitsmedizin (BAuA), under the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs in Germany, to professionally assess the risk of musculoskeletal hazards to workers. Three tools for lifting, holding, carrying (LHC), pulling and pushing (PP), and manual handling operations (MHO) to assess the use of hands and hand tools have been previously published (the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Ministry of Labor has published the standalone version).

In 2019, the BAuA released a new version of KIM, which not only upgraded the original three KIM tools, but also introduced three new assessment tools for whole-body force (BF), awkward body posture (ABP) and body movement (BM).

n order to prevent musculoskeletal diseases such as lower back pain and arm, neck, and shoulder disorders, and to provide enterprises and workers with more comprehensive risk assessment solutions, the Center cooperated with Prof. Chen Hsieh-Ching of the Human Factors & Performance Assessment Laboratory of National Taipei University of Technology to develop the "KIM Online Checking System (2019 new version)" (officially licensed by BAuA and LASI), which integrates the six tools of the new KIM2019 and additionally provides the KIM-preliminary screening pen-and-paper tool (Guide to Identifying Workplace Physical Stress and Risk Assessment) as the preliminary screening tool before using the KIM2019 system. This makes the KIM system's coverage of ergonomic hazard assessment more complete. KIM2019 Instruction Manual (Simple Version)
