What to do when you are injured at work? COAPRE will show you what to do in the video

What to do when an occupational accident occurs? Is there someone to protect and accompany you when you are feeling down? Under the guidance of OSHA, Ministry of Labor, COAPRE produced a rehabilitation service promotional film that premiered on the 8th. It is hoped that this information can be presented in a simple and easy-to-understand manner so that workers and their families can recognize that they can seek assistance from the center’s service personnel after an occupational accident. Through service consultations and the integration of diverse resources, the center strives to assist occupational accident workers and their families overcome challenges related to medical rehabilitation, occupational rehabilitation, social rehabilitation, and vocational rehabilitation, allowing them to move on with their lives after the accident.

The video consists of 2 occupational accident stories. One of the stories features A-qi, a bakery driver who fractured his hip after accidentally falling off a truck while moving the goods. After undergoing treatment, rest, working capacity assessments, and reinforcement training, he still could not squat fully to move the goods. The therapist’s suggestion of purchasing an electric lift cart put the employer in a difficult position. Service personnel from COAPRE facilitated communication between the employer and employee at the return to work meeting, providing information on subsidies for support facilities to help them resolve work adaptation-related issues.

The other story features “Xiao-ye”, a community security guard who suddenly collapsed and passed away during a night shift, leaving his wife and children unprepared and devastated. Occupational accidents can cause varying degrees of psychological adjustment and recovery issues for workers and their families. Due to the sudden nature of these incidents, they may require assistance in matters such as recognition of occupational diseases, occupational accident benefits, condolence payments, labor rights, or legal claims.

Upon receiving the service request, COAPRE reached out and consoled Xiao-ye’s family, offering them emotional support and explaining to them the basic rights of occupational accident workers. The center also taught them how to apply for occupational accident subsidies or access necessary service resources in order to protect their basic rights and care for their emotional well-being, hoping to help the bereaved family recover from their loss as soon as possible.

To make the service more accessible to workers, the center offers diverse service channels such as hotlines, an official LINE account, and the Occupational Accident Guardian app. Besides supporting a traditional Chinese and English user interface, other languages such as Indonesian, Vietnamese, and Thai are also available to better serve migrant workers, so that they can receive the necessary assistance when faced with occupational accidents. Please contact (02)8522-9366 if you have service needs, and the center will be glad to assist you.
