To care for occupational accident workers and their families, COAPRE - established with donation and support from the Ministry of Labor (MOL) - will organize the “Occupational Accident Prevention, Towards a Brighter Future” fairs at the Huashan 1914 Creative Park on November 16 (Saturday). This also marks the 3rd Care for Occupational Accident Fairs of the year, with the first 2 events conducted in Taichung and Tainan, respectively. In addition to paying attention to occupational accident prevention issues, it is hoped that the lively, joyful fairs challenge activities will lift the spirits of occupational accident workers, encouraging them to rise above their challenges, regain hope, and embrace life again.
The Taipei round of the Care for Occupational Accident Fairs on November 16 will boast over 30 gourmet food stalls and more than 20 workplace simulation experiences. In particular, the Department of Machinery and Equipment Technology’s “Claw Machine” is the most popular, allowing the public to understand the risks associated with fixed crane operations. Also, the Department of Occupational Accident Prevention Technology’s fall prevention experience enables people to bolster their safety awareness through fall prevention safety measures. After experiencing stall activities and challenges, participants may receive points that are redeemable for a wide selection of foods and beverages, and they can also enter the lucky draw activity.

OSHA, MOL Director-general Tzu-Lien Tzou, Bureau of Labor Insurance Director-general Li-Chen Pai, New Taipei City Labor Affairs Department Commissioner Jui-Chia Chen, and COAPRE CEO Jiune-Jye Ho all attended the event to support occupational accident workers. At the beginning of the event, government officials and guests take the stage to inflate the balloon to announce the opening of the event, as well as to support and encourage occupational accident workers to overcome their challenges.
Mr. Chen, an occupational accident worker, takes the stage to talk about his experience at the Care for Occupational Accident Fairs.
Occupational accident workers and their family members were also invited to share their journeys and experiences with the audience on the day of the event.Mr. Chen, formerly a mold maintenance and replacement worker at a stamping factory, suffered a workplace accident a decade ago when a piece of metal pierced his foot. Although the metal was removed and he continued working the following day, he soon experienced a high fever and excruciating pain in his foot. A subsequent medical diagnosis confirmed cellulitis, which led to the difficult decision to undergo amputation to save his life. After his injury, he filed a lawsuit against the company that lasted for numerous years, during which he applied for a job at several mold repair companies without success, mainly due to his disability. He regrets being too negligent about his safety and health, and reminds fellow workers to "exercise extra caution for greater peace of mind." It is imperative to bolster preventive measures before starting to work to minimize the risk of occupational accidents.
According to COAPRE CEO Jiune-Jye Ho, the center was formed with contributions from the MOL, focusing on the strategy of embracing, linking, and walking side by side to demonstrate its commitment to safeguarding enterprise safety and labor health. COAPRE hosted 3 Care for Occupational Accident Fairs in northern, central, and southern Taiwan this year, encouraging occupational accident workers and their families to embrace the outdoors and join the fairs during the weekend to relax their body and mind, as well as to learn new knowledge in a fun atmosphere, in turn fostering a shared focus on the importance of occupational accident prevention.
