COAPRE Opens Applications for Customized Occupational Safety Training and Counseling, Encouraging Enterprises to Apply

To mitigate common occupational hazards such as electric shock, fire and explosion, entanglement and cutting injuries, confined space risks, and structural collapse, the Center for Occupational Accident Prevention and Rehabilitation (COAPRE) conducted 248 sessions of customized occupational safety and health training in 2024. Due to high demand, 668 enterprises are still awaiting guidance.

As the year-end approaches, heightened occupational risks may arise due to increased workloads during maintenance rushes. COAPRE urges businesses to strengthen occupational safety measures and reminds workers to remain vigilant about occupational hazards to ensure a safe and accident-free Lunar New Year.

Since 2024, COAPRE has launched an online application platform for businesses seeking occupational safety guidance. To address occupational hazards such as electric shock, fire and explosion, entanglement and cutting injuries, confined space risks, and structural collapse, COAPRE has assembled a team of 150 experts, comprising retired safety inspectors and professional technicians from across Taiwan. Leveraging their expertise and experience, these specialists provide free on-site guidance and consultation, offering practical improvement strategies tailored to each business's needs. Due to overwhelming demand, 894 enterprises have already applied for assistance. In response, COAPRE is working towards establishing regional advisory teams within district offices, ensuring localized, continuous support and expanding service capacity.

Over the past two years, COAPRE has established six service centers in New Taipei City, Taichung, Tainan, Kaohsiung, and Hualien County, primarily providing occupational health guidance for businesses with fewer than 50 employees. Recognizing the high demand for occupational safety services, COAPRE has secured support from the Ministry of Labor to expand its workforce by 17 specialists in 2025, further strengthening regional advisory teams.

Additionally, to assist the construction industry in preventing fall-related hazards, COAPRE has partnered with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) under the Ministry of Labor to provide safety consulting services for micro-construction sites with fewer than 30 workers in non-special municipality areas. In 2024, COAPRE opened applications for customized occupational safety training and conducted 1,803 safety and health promotion sessions across Taiwan, including offshore islands. Businesses nationwide are encouraged to apply. To address the shortage of mid-level management talent in the construction industry, COAPRE has launched the "University Students’ Guided Tours of Model Construction Sites" initiative. This program helps match students with reputable safety-conscious firms, allowing them to gain early exposure to benchmark model occupational safety and health management environments. The initiative has been well received by businesses, with 12 sessions held in 2024, benefiting 160 students from civil engineering and architecture-related disciplines. These site visits provide first-hand insights into construction site operations and safety management, boosting students' confidence and willingness to enter the workforce.

Recognizing the strong correlation between safety training and counseling effectiveness and a company’s willingness to implement improvements, COAPRE is also building a database of businesses that have previously received safety guidance to monitor whether occupational accidents occur post-training. Upholding the principle of "more than just a one-time service," COAPRE remains committed to being a long-term partner in occupational safety and health for businesses.

Businesses requiring assistance are welcome to contact the COAPRE at 02-85229366 EXT Department of Occupational Accident Prevention Technology.
